Just a morning in June. Rather early; that is, for being on vacation. Even on vacation there's breakfast. Or especially on vacation, maybe. I take a stroll on the clay path towards the reception of Ludo Campsite, where my "complet" loaf waits for me. Wandering, slow and easy, I give room to my thoughts and impressions.
The calm is a blessing after a years’ work and pressure. The little breeze, the sun, the birds, the campsite wakening up. All of a sudden the comparison with a health resort dooms up, but the kind of health resort without any mud baths or mineral cures. Here it’s the warm attentions and listening ears from the campsite owners that have those therapeutic effects. And no fee charged, in return just a couple of campsite rules to respect, because people need those. A health resort where each man can be man in his own special way, to take that one special cure. Unique.

Just a quick note to say many thanks for a superb holiday. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and will probably be back next year if we have any money left over after our house demolition.

Dear Willem and Lily Thank you for accommodating Estelle and the group. They enjoyed their stay at your camping ground tremendously. She told me that two of the boys already told her that the trip so far, and especially the rafting on the Ardeche river, was already enough reason to have come on the trip. I hope you will have a great summer. When are you coming to visit us here.
Thank you for your nice reply. Depending on the weather - witch we of course hope is sunny and warm - we would like to do the following: One hole day of canoing (two canoes - aprox. 20 km) The accrobranche The 4-weel-motorbike (renting 3 bikes or 4 if the two little girls can sit together with the two grown-ups) Horse riding (1 skilled, 2 beginners, 3 never-tried) (skilled: may want an extra longer ride another day) Nature walk with slide ropes Maybe some of us will try rock-climbing, bungeejump, speleology but we will decide on that when coming to your camp-site and seeing the area. By the way: we have changed our tent-wagon into a new camping wagon, but we still appreciate a space site (with a beautiful view). Thank you again for you great service. Best regards

Dear Lily and Willem, We are back safely after an absolutely amazing tour of France and a small taste of Egypt. I would like to have the clock turned back at this very moment to do it all over again. It was magic!!! (and I know every one of our tour members have exactly the same feeling at this very moment) I would like to thank you on behalf of every one on the tour for your absolute "gasvryheid" You were so welcoming to us and SO very kind! You went out of your way in so many ways to make our stay as wonderful as it was! To many on the trip the stay at your campsite was one of the highlights. I hope that in the years to come you will have more South Africans joining you at your marvelous resort! I am planning to come back together some day soon - because I did not see the river frontage at Ludo yet! We found your camping ground outstanding - truly a cut above most other camping grounds!
Hello Monsieur and Madam Ludo. Sorry, I do not know your correct name. Thank you for your current Ludo Camping information sheet, it brings back good memories. My wife and I went to the Birmingham Caravan Show last week and thought that we may see you there again but did not find you. We may not be visiting France this year with a caravan, I am put of by the distance; we do some 4,800 kilometres when visiting France, a lot of driving time. If I do change my mind I will be pleased to look you up, as we were very impressed with the effort that you went to provide information and events. You also gave the best welcome that we have seen in our many years of visiting France. Best wishes for your coming season.
Dear,Lilly&Wilhem, ...My wife and I would like to say how very much we enjoyed our stay at 'Ludo Camping'. We simply picked it [among many others] from our caravan club book, how fortunate we were.On our arrival we were tired, hot, etc. Your warm and understanding welcome was greatly appreciated. We were instantly accepted and made feel very much at home by everyone around us, just perfect. We were very impressed with the way the site is run,attention to detail, the depth of activities, no problem to great or small,we have never, in all our travells felt as safe and secure.As we journeyed onwards we passed these sentiments on to many other British people as they inevitably ask were one has been etc. I have some very good video recordings of the site and the 'Ardeche' we shall recall many happy memories during the dark winter evenings to come.Thank you again for a wonderful stay at 'Ludo Camping' we wish you great success for the future. Hello Willem and Lily Now we are safely back in England, I would just like to thank you all for the wonderful holiday we have just had at Ludo Camping. It was everything we hoped it would be. The staff were very friendly and helpful all the time, and we really enjoyed the company of our fellow campers from the Netherlands, who were all very friendly. Ludocamping is set amongst the magnificent scenery of the Auzon valley, a delight for nature lovers particularly in early season when the many wild flowers and cherry trees are at their best. There are numerous birds including eagles and the elusive golden oriole, heard but seldom seen. A ride through Darbres and Mirabel has breathtaking views. This site, run by a very friendly Dutch family (excellent English is spoken) should appeal to couples of all ages and young families. The emphasis is on a quiet family campsite whilst offering a really wide range of activities. From mid-July – early August, only families with children under 14 yrs are accepted which allows the activities to be focussed on this age group – an unusual and interesting idea. The 160 grassy pitches, all for touring, are in two separate areas. Those in the upper section are large super pitches (approx 160 sq.m.) with wonderful views of the surrounding hills but little shade. Those in the lower area, closer to the small river, are well spaced, set naturally amongst the trees and have good shade. All have electricity, most 5A but some 10A. There is an attractive swimming pool (heated all season), good sized paddling pool and large sunbathing area.
Juste un matin en juin. Plutôt tôt, c'est-à-dire pour quelqu’un en vacances. Même en vacances il y a le petit déjeuner. Ou particulièrement en vacances, peut-être. Je me promène sur le chemin d'argile vers la réception de Ludo Camping, où mon pain complet m'attend.
En promenant, tout doucement, je donne libre cours à mes pensées et impressions. Cette tranquillité est une aubaine après une année de travail et de pression. Ce petit vent, ce soleil, ces oiseaux, ce camping qui se réveille en douceur. Tout à coup me vient la comparaison avec une station thermale, mais la sorte de station thermale sans bains de boue ni remèdes aux sels minéraux. Ce sont les attentions personnelles et les oreilles patientes des propriétaires du camping qui ont ces effets thérapeutiques. Aucune honoraire facturée, juste en retour une règle ou deux à respecter, parce que tout le monde en a besoin. Une station thermale où chaque homme peut être homme à sa façon, ou il peut venir en cure, sa cure. Unique.

Nous vous remercions pour les semaines que nous venons de passer chez vous.

Bref, tout y est et ce qui est plus : tout est bien dosé ! Nos membres peuvent nous écrire pour recevoir le film vidéo «Vacances au LUDO Camping», durée 20 min.
Un environnement superbe. Le petit village de Lussas a des terrasses sympathiques pour y boire un coup ou pour y manger un menu du jour pour 10 €, pain, vin, café compris.
Il ne faut pas oublier que Willem et Lily organisent ces attractions gracieusement. Et c’est justement cela qui nous plaît tant, n’est-ce-pas, à nous autres hollandais ? Un camping à y revenir absolument.
Très près du LUDO. Les passionnés peuvent voir la montée du péleton sur le Col de l'Escrinet, très facilement accessible à partir du camping. L'arrivée est au pied du château d'Aubenas, au quartier Rocca.
Ca sera la grande fête du cyclisme avec fanfare, casquettes, tutti quanti.
Tout ça à dix minutes du camping, à peine.

Bonjour Lily en Willem,
Weer thuis terug in 010 praten we ook vandaag weer volop met bekenden over de heerlijke weken in "de hof van Eden" ofwel de LUDO CAMPING daar in Lussas (wie kent die wereldstad met wolkenkrabbers én Cambuur niet ?)
Langs deze weg, en helaas niet in jullie gastenboek (niet gezien ter plekke) laten we jullie graag weten dat wij het enorm naar onze zin hebben gehad. Door de vele vrijblijvende activiteiten mee te doen mochten we vele plezierige "grijze pluisjes" ontmoeten. Veel praten en lachen en dat alles omlijst met veel mooi weer en een gastheer en gastvrouw voor wie niets te veel was.
Ondanks het feit dat ik de bal van Cambuur als echte 010-er niet kon kussen..........wij denken er ernstig over om toch volgend jaar de stoute schoenen weer aan te trekken en mogelijk de ballotage commssie te overtuigen van onze goede bedoelingen. MIsschien is er dan toch nog een plaatsje voor een paar "Hoogvlieters".
Bijgaand nog een foto van het Muziekspel. De echte winnaars van een van de vele gezellige meetings.

Actief op vakantie naar de Ardèche
Outdoor sporten stijgen nog steeds in populariteit, en helemaal tijdens de vakantie! De perfecte bestemming voor de actieve kampeerder is dan ook Ardèche LUDO CAMPING Parc **** want daar zijn outdoor mogelijkheden te over. Kinderen vanaf 6 jaar kunnen al meedoen aan canyoning, speleogie, bergklimmen. Vanaf 7 jaar kunnen ze wildwatervaren, en vanaf 8 jaar kunnen ze meedoen aan een heus boomtopparcours. Avontuur volop voor jong en oud! Tijdens de Caravana kan de avontuurlijke kampeerder alvast een voorproefje nemen op het Outdoorplein in Hal 2, want daar kun je namelijk paintbalschieten, boogschieten en klimmen.

Na in 2006 5 hele heerlijke weken bij jullie te hebben mogen staan, en in 2007 de gehele vakantie van onze kids te hebben moeten aanhoren dat Ludo toch VEEL VEEL leuker was (wat wij als ouders overigens niet anders dan konden beamen ;-), zouden we dit jaar weer graag onze vakantie bij jullie doorbrengen.

Zomaar een ochtend in Juni. Het is voor vakantiebegrippen nog vroeg. Ook in de vakantie wordt er ontbeten. Misschien wel juist in de vakantie. Ik loop het paadje af op weg naar de receptie van de Ludo Camping want daar ligt m’n bestelde “complet”brood klaar. Al wandelend, heel rustig, laat ik mijn gedachten en indrukken de vrije loop. De rust doet me goed na een druk jaar. Het windje, de zon, de vogels: de camping die ontwaakt. Opeens komt de vergelijking met een kuuroord in mij op. Maar dan wel een kuuroord zonder modderbaden en geneeskrachtige zouten. Hier zijn het de inzet en de luisterende oren van de eigenaars die therapeutisch werken. En in ruil geen uurtarief maar slechts een enkele leefregel omdat mensen die nou eenmaal nodig hebben. Een kuuroord waar mensen op hun eigen manier mens kunnen zijn, kunnen kuren zoals ze dat zelf willen! Klasse.

Kom naar de Ludo Camping want de Ludo Camping is cool.
Kruip in de auto, blijf niet zitten in je luie stoel.
Er is ook een beek, wat wil je nog meer.
Maar doe wel waterschoenen aan anders doen je voeten zeer.
En ook nog eens een zwembad, dat is toch helemaal top.
Bommetje of salto of handstand op de kop.
De aktiviteiten zijn hier leuk, zoals Disco of zoek De Schat.
En heb je het even warm dan spring je in het zwembad.
En ook de mensen zijn hier aardig en ook heel erg lief.
Maar vooral Willem en Lily en daarvoor deze brief.

Vorig jaar hebben wij een geweldige vakantie gehad op jullie camping.
Eind juni verwachten we een tweede kindje en om die reden zullen we deze zomer niet op vakantie gaan.
Volgend jaar is het de bedoelling om weer naar jullie toe komen met onze twee kleintjes...
zodat we... met onze vouwcaravan weer een geweldige vakantie kunnen beleven op jullie camping...

Ontzettend leuk dat het weer gelukt is. Wij hebben dit jaar gedacht aan een andere bestemming, maar jullie kaartje met Mimosa bezorgde ons een heel goed en welkom gevoel. Er was niet veel meer voor nodig om gewoon weer heerlijk naar jullie te komen.
Tot de zomer en hartelijke groeten.
….Onze foto’s zijn mooi geworden. De film van onze vrienden komen wij nog te zien. Verder gaat het jullie goed en wij doen jullie dan ook de hartelijkste groeten uit Bussum.
….De volgende dag aan de koffie werd natuurlijk over onze vakantie gesproken. Ik wil jullie dan ook laten weten, dat wij ons bij jullie thuis voelden. De manier waarmee wij werden ontvangen en ook werden vermaakt stond ons aan. alle voorzieningen waren schoon (wij hebben het wel anders meegemaakt). Ook hoorden wij nergens een radio of TV hard aanstaan. Er werd gegroet of het nu ’s morgens of ’s avonds was. Het jonge personeel van jullie was vriendelijk, en het witte en zelfs het bruine brood was overheerlijk.
Dat Willem met ons op stap ging en alles in het Nederlands vertaalde deed mij vooral goed, omdat ik geen Frans spreek of versta. Nu is het afgelopen jullie nog meer op een voetstuk te zetten, en jullie stek te roemen. Ik neem aan jullie weten het zelf veel te goed…

Wy hebben 2 jaar achtereen met veel plezier mogen genieten van jullie camping Met alles er omheen. Als aandenken heb ik een stukje Lussas geschilderd. Waardoor we nog steeds nagenieten. Doe vooral de groeten aan het recreatie team. ...Bas is besmet met het LUDO-virus, ZIJN OUDERS KOPEN EEN CARAVAN en komen samen met ons in oktober weer terug naar de LUDOCamping.... Hieronder twee foto's van 8 mei 2005.
"Hier lijkt alles net even anders te gaan dan op een doorsnee camping en daarom springt deze er met kop en schouders boven uit.
En na twee weken genieten vroegen we aan de buren : "wat kost het hier eigenlijk?" Die wisten het ook niet.
...ons eerste Franse avontuur te beginnen. Bezoeken aan wijnboerderij, zijdemuseum, rondvlucht boven de Ardeche en camping, jeu de boule avond, wandeltocht, bezoek aan de burgemeester van Lussas, met wijnproeverij.
Voor de eerste keer kamperen in Frankrijk bij Ludo is verwend worden. Wij voelen ons hier thuis. Genoten van de rust op deze camping. Het team stond altijd klaar, op welk tijdstip dan ook. Komen vast terug.
Een paradijsje op aard. Heel bijzonder, heel uniek ! Door jullie enthousiasme en deskundigheid werd de Ardeche voor ons een schitterend gebied.
Van begin tot 't einde een grote verrassing, we waren gasten... Niet te vergeten de tocht op de Rivier Ardeche. Tot volgend jaar.
Bewondering voor de grote kennis van en respect voor de Ardèche en haar bevolking. Dat het uiteindelijk 8 dagen zijn geworden komt door de sfeer op de camping en het aangeboden rekreatieprogramma.
Je kunt van alles vragen, niets is te veel. Je wordt hier echt verwend. Onvergetelijk. Daardoor ontstaat er een oase, een warme kleine nederzetting voor ons "verwende Hollanders". Au revoir.
Dan kom je de zoveelste camping op en denk je : wat zou het worden ? Na twee dagen wisten wij al : we blijven onze hele vakantie hier. Bijzonder mooi gelegen, lieve en hartelijke familie, schoon sanitair, mooie omgeving, bier aan de pomp, zwembad, fluitende vogels. Ja, wat wil je nog meer ? Wij hebben het heerlijk gehad en zeggen tot ziens.
De wandelingen, autotochtjes, het kajakken en niet te vergeten de fietstocht !...
Dit zal dan de eerste keer zijn in ons kampeerdersbestaan dat we naar dezelfde camping teruggaan. Een thuishaven voor mensen die even willen uitrusten. Tegen onze gewoonte (we zijn echte trekkers) bleven we hier 3 weken plakken, deels als gevolg van het schitterende weer en deels door de prachtige omgeving en de plezierige contacten.
De ontvangst, de gezelligheid van het personeel, het voortreffelijke programma met voor iedereen wat.
Ga zo door op jullie zo unieke manier van verzorgen, organiseren, het mensen naar hun zin maken. Het was een onvergetelijke vakantie. Tot ziens in het najaar en anders weer in mei volgend jaar.
Op 2 mei werden we ontvangen en op 1 juli namen we afscheid. Daartussen liggen twee maanden van intens genieten. Voorjaar met brem en kersen, de zomer van hitte en lekker zwemmen in het zwembad. Eén wandeling wordt nooit meer vergeten, hè Willem ?

Jammer aan de ene kant want het is hier niet zo mooi weer als bij jullie maar ja mooie liedjes duren niet lang hé! Zoals de vorige jaren hebben we er weer van genoten!
